Hemus says

Hemus says to “reveal yourself”. To stop doing that thing where you try to improve upon something only to do the same thing faster and more efficently. He says “to hell with that” and we need to do what we’ve all done thousands of time before.

He also says to “maintain your dignity”. To approach life in a dignified way that, not only reveals your truest self, but ensues a life where a high value on ethics is acheived.

Hemus is just a man. A man over 65 years of age and of medium height. He wears a tattered red coat and a misshapen beanie to keep his head warm. The days are getting warmer here with the onset of spring, but Hemus is still out there when the nights get cold. He says he sleeps in the bushes and avoids the shelters.

This is not the man I had the pleasure of speaking with, but correctly maintains my point of view. Photo courtesy of Matt Collamer via Unsplash https://www.mattcollamer.com/.

He’s worked with large and technical machinery his entire life. He’s a a self-proclaimed genius when it comes welding, grouting and concrete pouring. He can’t hold a job but that reason seemed unclear. He was wise and maintained an interesting style of communication. Hemus smiled and made me laugh, made me think. Made me think about how I can intentionally reveal myself. Reveal my mistakes, my successes and my vices.

He contributed to another stage of my endless awakening. The awakening that happens when you let people in. Only certain people can come in. I think Hemus deserves his spot. He deserves to be apart of society, but I don’t expect him to pay taxes.
