What is living within your means?

I don’t prescribe to the idea of having one right answer. The times, my surroundings, shared experiences and global connectedness is what likely dictates what I might think is living within my means. Is it based on what my income is? Is there a standard that all people should have to meet in order to live under the margin? Is there any wrong-doing of living outside of your means? Where is is imaginary line and why should we even follow it?

Living within your means, to me, is breaking out of historically engrained habits to use the dollars received from my societal contributions towards things that make my life comfortable and challenging at the same time. Stating that I want a roof over my head, food on my plate and people in my life to love is vague and not descriptive enough. Do I deserve those basic needs if I choose to curate them extravagantly?

I hope to continue this thought when I can find the words.
